Exchange Student Day

A Rotary Club of a small town outside of Stockholm, that is not hosting an exchange student this year, invited us to an exchange student day on Friday.

The day started off with a scavenger hunt through out the town to test our knowledge on Sweden. We split up into five teams. My team, Yaaaaaas,  consisted of Tanner, Kate, Emily, Sam and me.

Some teams went to go get ice cream...

and nicely shared with us.

After the scavenger hunt, we relaxed in the sun and trees until the Rotary lunch.

We enjoyed a great lunch with the members of the Rotary Club that hosted us. During the meal, the winner of the scavenger hunt was announced and...Yaaaaaas won!!

Yaaaaaas!!!

The Rotary Club, also, took us to Skansen for the afternoon. Some exchange students rode with Rotary members but some had to take the subway.

Subway riders are cooler than car riders.
Daniel has a banana because I am a good friend. I saw them when we were leaving the restaurant and knew how much he loved them so I grabbed him one.

At Skansen, we had a guided tour to tell us all about Sweden's history.

Daniel likes to squat.

Most beautiful creature on the planet.

We owe so much thanks to Jan Boman and his Rotary Club for giving us an amazing exchange student day!

After the tour, we were allowed to go off on our own to explore other parts of Skansen.

Hannah had some trouble getting on the Dala Horse.

But Paddy was there to help!

Many exchange students left; however, Sierra, Josh, Avishkar (Fish), Paddy, Daniel, Beth and I stayed to see the animals.

I am so happy we stayed longer at Skansen because the last couple of days have been beautiful in Stockholm; the sun has been shining and the skies have been blue so it made for a perfect afternoon outside.

When we left Skansen, we quickly ran into a grocery store to get food for a BBQ before heading to a park where everyone was meeting up.

We played ultimate frisbee.

For the BBQ, we made our way to a nearby lake to build a fire and start grilling.

Andrew, Tanner,  and Hamish decided to jump into the freezing water.

We had some difficulty starting the first fire...

Beth thought she would try to do it like the "movies".

We had a second fire up on a cliff over looking the lake. We had two because Sierra has a torn ACL and will need surgery on it when she returns home so she could not climb up.

It was so scary near the edge.
I did not take this photo; I made Beth take it.

Grilling ribs.

I had a great day with the exchange students. It is crazy how close we have gotten over the past nine months; we are family!
